Choose products with natural ingredients for a healthier you…

Many of us are increasingly conscious about what is in the food we eat. Whether it be due to wanting to lose weight, not wanting our families to consume harmful chemicals, or just generally trying to ensure a healthy lifestyle, this change is becoming more and more apparent.

But why stop there? Many of us use a wide variety of lotions and potions on our skin every day. From cleansing products to skin care, from make up to moisturisers – but have you ever stopped to really look at what is in these products and think about the affect it is having on our bodies?

Whilst we are fully aware that anything we eat or drink is absorbed by the body –be it good for us or not – but did you know that the skin, the largest organ of the human body, absorbs as much as 60% of the chemicals it comes into contact with!? By using natural and organic products we can drastically reduce the amount of chemicals we absorb and benefit from an enormous range of natural products, many of which have been used effectively for hundreds of years.

We absorb more than enough toxins in our normal everyday life… ensuring that we use natural alternatives for our skin and health care whenever possible will give our body the tools it needs to eliminate these toxins and keep us healthy for longer!
There is now a huge range of natural skin care and health related products available – and the best resource for this is of course… Online!

It can be difficult (if not a bit of a minefield!) to work out which products are good for us, just because a product is listed as ‘Natural’ does not mean that all the ingredients are – in fact, in order to label a product Natural, only 1% of the ingredients actually have to be so.

By researching products online you have quick and easy access to loads of products without trawling round the shops. Not only does this allow you to look for the best prices, but you can choose from websites that ensure they list all the ingredients of their products – not just a line or two to let you know all the good points about the product.

Do check the ingredients; some websites are so transparent that they will even provide an image of the box to clearly show the true ingredients list – perfect!
In the case of Organic products, it is still possible that they do include some chemicals so it is worth looking for the Soil Association certification symbol as they have strict guidelines about ingredients. The added benefit of organic products is the fact that the ingredients have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner.

What causes embarrassing Adult Acne?

There is nothing more aggravating than to think that your acne problems are over after your teenage years only to have it come back to haunt you in your adult life. Acne is not limited to teenagers. Adult acne is just as big of a problem but it is just as treatable. Not only is this condition aggravating but it is also embarrassing and damaging to your self confidence. It is important to understand why adult acne happens so that you can take action against it and take control of your life back.

There are many things that cause acne in adults. Stress is one major contributor to acne problems as an adult. When adults experience stress, the body releases more hormones than normal. This is one of the most prominent reasons for acne occurring in adults. When adults have a significant increase of stress in their lives, generally eating habits change as well. Healthy eating is a major contributor in the body’s natural healing process. The stress increase with a decrease in healthy eating results in acne flare-ups with a longer healing process.

Acne in adult women is most generally caused by a hormonal imbalance. Whether it is before the menstrual cycle or during menopause, hormone changes trigger different reactions in the body. Among these changes is the stimulation of the oil making glands. This stimulation coupled with the dirt on the face clogging pores and promoting bacteria growth makes acne almost imminent.

How fast dead skin cells are shed is also another major contributor in acne. Dead skin cells that are not shed can block pores trapping oils under the skin and allowing bacteria growth. When this happens, the body’s immune system attacks the bacteria. In doing that the body creates pus filled pockets that can lead to permanent disfigurement if aggravated. For this reason, it is extremely important in the prevention of acne to keep the dead skin cells off of the surface of the skin.

This will help prevent pore blockage and keep bacteria growth to a minimum. Adult acne is not curable but it is treatable. Preventative measures are the most important part of any acne treatment. Keeping skin clean, but moisturized and keeping pores unblocked is essential when it comes to preventing outbreaks. Knowledge is growing about this condition so it is also important to keep yourself informed on new treatments and preventative measures.
